Family Living Then and Now
THEN
In previous generations, coexistence within the family was mainly based on face-to-face interactions. Family dinners were a key time to share the day, and free time was spent at home, playing games or chatting without technological distractions. Family relationships, although sometimes marked by a bit more rigidity in gender roles and authority, tended to be more structured around direct communication.
NOW
The advent of the internet, social media and smartphones has completely transformed how we communicate within the family. Today, even if many family members are in the same household, it is common to see people interacting with their electronic devices more than with each other. Video calls, instant messaging and social media platforms have allowed for constant connection, yet sometimes face-to-face time together is affected by technology.
